What’s in your closet? Ah, don’t want to go there? Well, this may be because you’re not up to date on the current fashion trends. What is it with fashion anyway? People seem to conform to the rules like puppets. Okay, well maybe not all people. You may be one of the few who step outside the norm and dress however you like. Maybe you’re sporting those 80’s tapered pants, or that ever-cool mullet that was all the rage back in the day. If this is the case, then you’ve probably pretty much been ostracized by the world as a whole, but no worries. When it comes to fashion, it’s a nonstop universe of change. Although some trends are deemed ridiculous and out of date, many others re-emerge with flying colors. Whether you like it or not, it’s likely going to continue this way.
Are you up on the current fashion trends? This subject confuses me to say the least. I was a small child back in the 80s, and I have to say I remember it rather well. I saw the whole decade. From the pegged pant legs, to the jelly bracelets, to the big hair, and finally to the ripped-up jeans. Well, now it’s the new millennium and so much of these things seem to be coming back full force. Huh? Isn’t it too soon or something? Young girls are actually wearing the leggings under their mini-skirts again, and the shirts that hang off of one shoulder. I loved Flashdance as much as the next guy, but come on. It appears that the current fashion trends are simply to have no trend at all. Everything is back in circulation. The torn jeans are in every clothing store. It’s virtually all you can find. Is the big hair coming back next?
When it comes to the current fashion trends, you can’t just observe the apparel and accessories. You have to take a serious gander at the hair styles. They sort of go together if you know what I mean. Judging from the modern male, I would have to assume that 70s dew is back in style. Why else would anyone purposely resort to that floppy retro mess? Come on, you’ve seen it. However, if you’re not in tune with the current fashion trends, you can always take a stroll through cyberspace. Of course I mean with your eyes, not your feet. While this business of fashion moves forward as strong as ever, you may want to get a load of all the current fashion trends before actually deciding on a wardrobe.
Keeping up on current fashion trends is almost a full time job. It requires a lot of commitment to keep up on the latest look, but it is worth it. Anyone can wear t shirts and jeans every day, but to really look fashionable and attractive all the time is something that few can do. You need money and you need a good sense of style.
The hardest thing about current fashion trends is the fact that something that looks good one minute won’t look good to people the next. Remember those MC Hammer pants that everyone was wearing for a few months or so? If you even went out in those today, people would probably be laughing in your face. To take a more current example, sagging your pants may be a current fashion trend, but who knows how it will look to people in another year. It might just make you look like a slob who doesn’t know how to wear clothes that fit right!
That is why, no matter how into fashion styles you are, you need some evergreen clothes. What I mean by “evergreen” is clothing that will always look okay. Even someone like me who is obsessed with the current fashion trends also has some good, well-tailored designer jeans that will always look good with a plain t shirt. I can use fashion accessories to update the look to whatever is going on at the time, but I don’t have to replace the jeans themselves, because they won’t go out of style. It saves me a lot of money to have some basic clothing, while still allowing me to look good.
Half of the fun of current fashion trends is trying to figure out what they will think of next. Everyone knows that trends start with runway models dressed in strange and daring outfits that no one would actually wear out on the street. These sort of outfits are bold, and they are made to showcase a new idea in fashion and see how far the designer can take it. Even if they are not actually very practical, they are still fun to read about in fashion magazines.
I’ve even thought about being a fashion designer once or twice. I suspect that pretty much anyone into looking good and feeling great has this thought at one point. Just keeping up with current fashion trends involves such an element of really making your own look that it is tempting to want to take it to the next level. If I ever do that, I think I’ll move to London. Right now, it seems to be the best place for my favorite international fashions.
What is the difference between a MA Fashion Business and a MA Fashion Marketing?
Posted by: | CommentsI was looking to go to graduate school for fashion in London, I found two progams I was intrested in. I have an intrest in the fashion industry mostly inttrested in buying allocations. My first degree is in Sociology so for me to get my Masters I want to be able to easily find a job. Dream jobs would be (TOPSHOP, New Look, Vivian Westwood, Harvey Nichols). The 2 programs I found are MA Fashion Business and a MA fashion Marketing.
I think you'd like Fashion Marketing more and would be able to utilize and understand it better. Fashion Business sound slike it would teach you the ins and outs of the financial aspect of Fashion, whereas Fashion Marketing would get you to know what the fashion industry is thinking and how best to present the things you'd like to see out in the world, or in display windows. Good Luck with your Master's!

How do you organize a Fashion show funderaiser?
Posted by: | Commentswhat are some of the things i may need to make this a success ?How many people should i have in the fashion show to make it big? Should i have children as well as women? How much should i sell the tickets for and how many should be printed? What are some of the extra things to accomodate the show? How many tickets should be given to everyone? The cause of the funderaiser is to help a family from foreclosure.Any ideas would be very helpful.
Thank you
Judging by the reason of the fundraising, i assume the fashion show fundraiser is going to be a low-key one, right? Because the cost of a good Venue, models and rental of microphones, lighting and sound/music equipment as well as creating the boarded "runway", banner for the logo of the clothes company as well as printing of the tickets will set you back a VERY BIG amount. Also, not everyone u give tickets to can be expected to turn up. Every 100 tickets sent, u may only expect a turnout of 30%-50%. (unless it's a big branded fashion show.) Some venues charge 3K just for venue rental only.
I'd suggest that you approach a college and get students to model, or relatives and friend's daughters. Rent the hall of a community centre/art gallery and use their sound equipment and lighting. Instead of having to build a runway, you could get models to model around seated guest tables instead. Also, ask a local clothes store if they are willing to participate. Do get them to provide clothes in your model's sizes. Get the clothes a few days in advance so that they can be STEAM-ironed out. Get the models to wear neutral colored heels. Tickets can be printed at a print shop nearby. The smaller d tickets, the cheaper it is. Get it printed on A3 size sheets and cut the tickets to size yourself to save cost. Also, to hire a makeup artist for the day may cost $250, so get models to do their own makeup but advise them according to the clothes picked out. GOOD LUCK!
you could also sell cake slices or drinks at the same time to earn more from the crowd….since it is quite low cost.

How do fashion designers come out with the same trend for each season?
Posted by: | CommentsFor these designers to be so fashion forward, they all come out w/the same seasonal trends. I heard that the editor of vogue looks at each designer’s collection in advance of fashion shows and decides which look is “in”.
Magazine editors and fashion buyers/designers watch the market year round, and watch where the trends are headed. Based on what the magazines pick (and all the buyers/designers also subscribe to each magazine) is what is marketed to the general public. The public (believe it or not) actually pick the trends based on what we buy… and based on what we buy helps determine the trends for the next seasons.
After a trend is determined, notice that the celebrities will start to wear them, they will appear in magazines, and sites like www.thefashionbitch.com, IN Style, etc. will start promoting those trends. When the public sees all the promotion for these items, then they buy it, which helps promote the trend.

How can I go about making my own fashion doll molds?
Posted by: | CommentsI am interested in making my own 12" fashion doll because the really good ones that are for sale are SO EXPENSIVE. Does anyone know how can I go about making my own fashion doll molds using plastic, rubber or other materials? I am not interested in transforming a doll that is already made, but starting from scratch. Serious replies only. Thanks.
You will have to make an original model. One method is to work with never hardening soft modeling oil clay (plasticine) when you have a version you like, you paint it with many layers of latex molding material (or use expensive RTV silicone molding rubber), back the soft mold with plaster and peel off the rubber from the clay carefully. If you wish, you can keep the keep the model and modify and rework it to make a different version without building the whole thing from scratch (like different head shape, bustier or flatter, etc. but legs, waist, shoulder, arms not changed.)
If you are going to make a figure with movable arms and legs it get more complicated as you will model each of those separately and have to model the front and the back and cast in separate pieces so you can fasten the arms and legs (and head?) with elastic.
Once the mold is made, you then can cast in tough casting wax for your own use, or get involved in clear and opaque casting resins.
For examples of the first part of the process see

I don't do resin casting, so you will have to explore for the second part.
